About Us
The National Careline was formed in 2010 by Barbara Davies who maintained and grew an information service from her previous experience.
Barbara specialised in long-term care as a financial adviser for more than 10 years, helping families whose loved ones needed residential or nursing care. Having gained so much knowledge and experience from helping people and their families who were coping with a relative needing care, she realised the difficulties experienced in searching numerous websites for relevant information and set up the National Careline to simplify matters by bringing it all together in one place.
The National Careline is an information hub; it is always changing with new material added regularly and topical news items as they become available.
The website stands alone as a source of information and help but many have benefited from the additional service through the free telephone helpline. This allows people to ask their questions their way and we do our best to provide information, act as a signpost and on occasion just a listener. The helpline is manned from 10am to 4pm, Monday to Friday and messages can be left outside of these hours.
It is a lifestyle site and in the National Careline Directory section, we have carefully selected items that will help make life better, safer, or more comfortable for those who experience mobility problems, need care or are caring for others.
Due to the increasing need for support with legal documents such as Wills, Lasting Power of Attorney and applications through the Court of Protection, we have appointed Martyn Milsom as a Director of the National Careline. Martyn runs a Legal Services consultancy and gives advice and support to our callers on all manner of legal applications.
We are very grateful for the help and co-operation of the many people and organisations featured on our website. Without their continued help and support, and the encouragement and goodwill from many others, the site would not be able to cover the range of items that it does.
